Vizo LCD HDTV provides the USB port which can help you to play the videos from the USB flash drive. Recently, from the Vizo community, we get this information: Some users use the USB on the Vizo TV, but the Vizio HDTV can’t recognize the movie files on the USB flash drive, what’s happening? The TV is wrong? The USB is wrong or the movie in the USB is wrong? We collect the failure inforamtion and analyze this issue, finall, we provide the best solutions for you.

Trouble: Shows a “Picture” folder, not the "Movie" folder

I have a Vizio 32″ LCD hdtv in my office. On the side of it is a USB port. I am using an 8GB flash drive, created a ‘MOVIES’ folder and loaded an .avi movie in that folder. When I connect the flash drive to the tv, it shows a “Picture” folder. When I click OK, it then opens a “system” folder and my “MOVIES” folder. When I select the “MOVIES” folder and press OK, nothing happens. Up at the top right, it says Empty Folder.

Reasonable explanation:

The USB port in many TVs was more of a thought for pictures or just providing 5V power to a device. If they do support movies it is a very limited format as being able to support more formats requires not just more processing power, but also having to pay for different codecs. That is not even getting into conflict of interests, like sony (the owner of Blu-Ray format that gets royalty for every Blu-Ray disc made) had very few products that support mkv file format that many hd movies are decoded to.

A USB port is for service use only to perform diagnostics, troubleshoot problems and apply firmware upgrades. The good news is that the USB ports on many new Vizio TV can support variety of uses such as reading the owner’s manual or playing media connected it through a USB drive or external hard drive that has been formatted with a FAT32 or NTFS disk format.

Local dimming is another lighting feature that vastly improves picture quality in both edge-lit and full-array LED HD televisions.

Tip 3. Consider Vizio’s Smart TV Options

Vizio Smart TVs use the VIA (Vizio Internet Apps) system to make web navigation and Internet connectivity a piece of cake. The Internet is a great source of high-definition videos, with services like Hulu, Netflix, and Vudu. It is a good idea to consider sources of high-def programming.

Tip 4. Know Vizio’s CinemaWide Aspect Ratio

Aspect ratios describe the proportions of a screens height and width. High-definition television channels use a 16:9 aspect ratio and this is the standard for HDTVs as well. Vizio was the first company to introduce a TV with an aspect ratio of 21:9 so that these movies appear on television just as they do in the cinema, with no black bars.

Tip 5. Budget for a Vizio Sound Bar

A big picture needs a big sound, and Vizio sound bars are the perfect complement to an HDTV. A sound bar eliminates the tangle of wires that often results from a set of speakers. Vizio sound bars incorporate a sub-woofer and have wide listening angles to achieve the same floor-shaking sound as a set of speakers.
