According to this article a MAC can output 3d blu-ray to a TV or projector.

    http://www.examiner.com/article/macbook-pro-can-output-3d-movies

But if your MAC is reading and playing from a 3D disc rather than outputting a 3D movie stored in memory do you need to be using an external blu-ray player that is advertised as 3D capable?

It seems that the blu-ray players that are advertised as being able to play 3d blu-rays all come with a software bundle that enables them to do this.

It seems likely to me that you could use any external blu-ray player connected to your MAC to play 3D discs as long as you downloaded the appropriate software/player.

    Am I correct?

    1. John Salley says:

Yeah, you are right! You can use an external Blu-ray player for you Mac, but if to avoid the complex procedure, you just need a 3D Blu-ray ripper and copier above and a Blu-ray drive in hand, you can realize 3D Blu-ray viewing experience on Mac.
